DAVID R HUGHES
David Hughes is a professional Singer/Musician/Songwriter/Sound Engineer from Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Tarrant County Jr. College and the University of Texas at Arlington majoring in Trumpet and minoring in Music. The instruments he plays are guitar, electric bass, drums, piano/synthesizer, trumpet and recorder. He has performed with various show and dance bands touring in cities throughout the United States since 1967. His musical styles include classic rock, rock & roll, country rock, country and folk rock in both Gospel and Secular genres. The music groups he has played in are: THE OUTLANDERS (High School Group) 1966-1967, THE GENTLEMEN (later changed to ANGUS) 1968 - 1970, COLOSSUS 1971-1973, THE SHADES 1974 (later changed to ALEXIS) all from Fort Worth, Texas Also MERLIN 1975 - 1979 based in Houston, Texas and REUNION 1980 - 1981 in Fort Worth, TX while building a studio and completing a course for audio recording at Prism Studio in Arlington, Texas. In 1982 he participated in the recording and performance of a Folk Rock Opera written by musician/singer/songwriter Tony Vann from Fort Worth, Texas with him, Dallas singer Janet Allison Kollmeier and Ft. Worth musician/producer Ron DiLulio at a Festival of the Winds concert in Estes Park, Colorado. That group also did session work for other commercial projects & unofficially named the group "Canned Tamales" In 1983 David moved his recording studio Avalon Sound Studio to its current location. Beginning in 1994 he started as a single musical act, then in 1995 he formed a duo named Merlin and Friends which later grew to a trio performing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In his recording studio, AVALON SOUND David recorded & helped produce demos and music albums for Fort Worth area artists TONY VANN, BEAUX CONSTANCE, DERRYL PERRY, GARY CARPENTER (singer), LAVERNE NEWELL, SHARON REYNOLDS, DARREN BROWN, BOB KING and TERRIE CHRISTIE. Also Wyndi Harp (Tyler, TX), THE MASTER'S QUARTET (Waxahachie, TX), FREDDY COX (Arlington, TX), ONCE & FOR ALL (Arlington, TX) THE PERSUADERS (Arlington, TX), SOMETHING FRESH (Dallas, TX), CHALICE (Dallas, TX), Kim Mottern (Lake Worth, Florida), and many others as well as his own albums. Throughout the nineteen nineties David also provided sound systems and engineered sound for small concerts at various local churches for a KHVN Radio Station gospel concert series, the Fort Worth Gospel Opry located near the Fort Worth Stockyards, a concert series for Pleiades Productions and for local bands such as THE PERSUADERS, JOHNNY D & THE DOO WAPPS and others. Currently David is composing and recording music at Avalon Sound Studio for himself and other local musical talent.
